STYLE YOUR 'MO' FOR MOVEMBER

The month of November has become well-known as Movember, where men all over the world grow their mos to raise awareness for men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s mental health.

Moustaches have also become a huge social trend over the years, and we see more men rocking staches as fashion statements. Now that it’s become popular to grow a stylish moustache, whether for Movember or just to be on trend, we have some advice on how to get the perfect mo.

HOW TO GROW A MO
If you have never really experimented with facial hair before, know that you will need quite a bit of patience. A full and thick moustache will not grow overnight, it needs commitment and getting through the uncomfortable stages of growing facial hair.

  • To help with stimulation of growth try vitamins such as vitamin A, B, C, E and Biotin to nourish your hair follicles and strengthen hair from the inside.
  • Exfoliate your face regularly, as this will remove dead skin cells and keep your skin clean for healthier hair growth.
  • Moisturise your face to allow for a better environment for faster hair growth.
A moustache should be reflective of your own personality, so pick the style that suits you!

THE HANDLEBAR
This type of moustache is well suited for those who want to stand out. Popular amongst hipsters, it’s styled with curved ends that spiral towards the end. It is quite simple to achieve this look: just use a touch of moustache wax to wind each end of your moustache outward to create curved ends.

THE HORSESHOE
You don’t need to go to the Wild West to be a cowboy! Just cut your mo into the iconic ‘horseshoe’. If you’re brave enough, you will need a good few months to grow your facial hair thick enough, and get a good barber to finely trim into the perfect shape, like Hulk Hogan’s.

THE PENCIL
Suited for the simple guy, looking for a clean cut stash without attracting a lot of attention. Great for everyday wear at the office, it’s a much neater and sleek approach for a moustache. Its called the Pencil because its trimming style resembles the straightness of a pencil. It’s much easier to achieve this style and would take you about a month to grow. We love the Human Torch, Michael B. Jordan’s version.

THE SCRUFFY
If you’re sceptical about growing a moustache, this is the safer option you could try out. The approach to this style is simple with easy and minimal maintenance. Keep the ends of your moustache longer along the sides of your mouth and trim the edges evenly. Even Captain Jack Sparrow would approve of Johnny Depp’s effort.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR MO GLOW

  1. Use a beard trimmer and moustache scissors when grooming; this helps with precision and keeping your stash in perfect shape.
  2. Use a comb and wax for definition and styling.
  3. Remember to use a face-wash daily and scrub a couple of times per week to keep your moustache tidy and clean of debris.
