DREAM DATE IDEAS

The Valentine’s Day tradition goes back a long way. There are various theories about how it started, but a popular belief is that it originated with a Roman priest, St Valentine, in the third century AD!

The story goes that Emperor Claudius II banned marriage because he believed married men didn’t make good soldiers. Being a romantic, Valentine arranged secret marriages, but the cold-hearted Claudius found out, threw him in jail and ordered him to be put to death. Valentine fell in love with his jailer’s daughter, goes the story, and on the day of his execution, the 14th of February, he sent her a love letter that was signed ‘from your Valentine’. Whether this sad tale holds any truth or not, for many people the 14th of February has become a day to celebrate and express love and affection for the special person in their life. It is an opportunity to openly show your loved ones the value they have in your life by beautiful displays of love, in the form of dinner dates, picnics, outings and romantic gifts from the heart.

We asked our #JetClubFamily what their ideal Valentine’s dream date would be, and this is what they had to say.

If your budget is too tight to splurge on a Valentine’s Day dinner or outing, there are some creative and affordable ways you can try that will demonstrate love and celebrate each other without breaking the bank.

MAKE AN AT-HOME SPA
Recreate your own spa experience by drawing a bubble bath, add a few scented candles and complete with a soothing body massage. Throw in a pedicure as well this will increase the intimacy level between you and will be a complete pamper session for your loved one.

BRING AND SHARE
For a feast on a budget, organise a double or triple date with friends at your house. You all can club together towards dinner and prepare a big meal to enjoy at home. You’ll have even more fun by playing board games, cards and competing against each other as couples. This is a great way to build teamwork as a couple and also have fun with other couples, whilst keeping within your budget.

STROLL ON THE BEACH OR AT THE PARK
Being out in nature, away from the busyness of your everyday life, can help you connect better with your partner. Take a walk on the beach, walk in the waves and watch the sunset at the end of the day. Or visit a park, find a bench or sit under a tree and forget about everything else and focus on each other. Go grab some ice cream afterwards to complete the day. Remember to take lots of selfies and capture these special moments.

Remember the 14th of February is only one day in the year, dedicated to celebrating love. To keep your relationship going it takes more than just one day, so keep the momentum going throughout the year and appreciate your partner daily.
