The Golden Globes Awards is one of the highest honours in the Hollywood film and television industry. This year was the 77th annual Golden Globe Awards and the event took place at the Hilton in Beverly Hills on Sunday 5th January 2020.
Hollywood’s elite, starlets such as Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé and Priyanka Chopra all came together to celebrate and congratulate their fellow actors and actresses for their nominations.
As with all awards shows, red carpet glamour is the order of the day, and with this year’s Golden Globes, celebrities took it up a notch. From elaborate ball gowns to fitted mermaid dresses, to embellished pants suits and bright chiffon numbers, everyone at the event was impeccably dressed.
It wasn’t easy to choose our favourite outfits – everyone looked so great!. Here’s our breakdown of the top looks at the 2020 Golden Globes Awards.
JENNIFER LOPEZ

J.Lo always comes through with ultra-glam and unforgettable red carpet moments and she did not disappoint at this year’s Golden Globes. She strutted the red carpet with a high fashion Valentino gown featuring an oversized gold and emerald green bow with embellishments. Not afraid of pushing the boundaries of fashion, J.Lo piled on the jewels with a 76.36-carat diamond and emeralds necklace set. She was nominated for best-supporting actress for her role as Ramona Vega in the movie Hustlers. While she did not win a Golden Globe this year, she’s undeniably a winner in fashion.
PRIYANKA CHOPRA

Actress Priyanka emanates sophistication and elegance in all of her red carpet appearances. This time she gave us exactly that in a stunning hot pink off-the-shoulder gown with a flowing trail by designer Cristina Ottaviano, which she paired with a Bulgari diamond necklace. Priyanka and her husband Nick Jonas both got up on stage and presented the award for the best comedy series.
CHARLIZE THERON

South African born actress, Charlize Theron, attended the ceremony in a bright look that turned heads. Charlize rocked a lime green one-shoulder Dior Haute Couture gown with a sexy black lingerie corset. She kept her hairstyle simple, showing off her blonde pixie cut, and accessorised with a choker and chunky bejewelled rings. Charlize was nominated for her sixth Golden Globe for her portrayal of Megan Kelly in Bombshell.
CYNTHIA ERIVO

Cynthia Erivo graced the red carpet in a Thom Browne black-and-white beaded tuxedo gown with floral details. What stood out the most from her look was the 3 million dollar Bulgari diamond necklace that completed her look. She radiated elegance and carried the look so well. Cynthia’s much talked about role and performance in the film Harriet landed her the nomination for Best Actress in the Drama Motion Picture category.
JEANNIE MAI

Television host Jeannie Mai took a different approach and opted for a two-piece white ensemble by designer Elizabetta Franchi. Jeannie knows very well how to put together red carpet looks and this year she gave us a white high waisted palazzo pants, with a matching embellished top and clutch bag.
NINA PARKER

E! News host Nina Parker has been consistent in bringing red carpet looks that are fabulous. This time she showed off a gold sequined gown with long sleeves and a cowl neck, which was created by designer Melissa Mercedes. Never afraid to show off her beautiful curvy body, Nina is an example to look to when dressing up for plus sizes.
BEYONCÉ
Beyoncé attended the Golden Globes, but didn’t make an appearance on the red carpet. She did, however, share her Golden Globes look on her Instagram page. With her husband, Jay-Z, B looked like royalty in a plunging black gown with dramatic gold puffy sleeves. She kept her hair simple and sleek and accessorised with big diamond drop earrings.
