While 2020 may not have been the year we expected, it certainly allowed many local and international celebs to show off their star-studded style at the most-anticipated awards of the year, whether the ceremonies were held virtually or at a glamorous venue. Take a look at our top picks.

2020 DStv Mzansi Viewers Choice Awards (MVCA): K Naomi
Statement wing-like sleeves and a plunging neckline that glistened with jewels are just a few of the details that put this pearl-encrusted mini dress at the top of our best-dressed list. And those heels... girl, you’ve got it! We think it’s time to add ‘fashionista’ to your list of talents.

2020 DStv Mzansi Viewers Choice Awards (MVCA): Blue Mbombo
Is it possible for a gown to be more gorgeous? The vibrant red, the striking silhouette, the glamorous detailing, and jaw-dropping earrings... we simply can’t get enough of this stunner. Blue Mbombo was a vision at the DStv MVCA!

BET Awards: Beyoncè
Not even the virtually hosted BET Awards could stop Queen B from slaying! Dressed in a black velvet high-low strapless dress, with layers of diamonds around her neck, elegant long sheer gloves on her arms, and black heels to finish it off, this look was nothing short of sensational.

BET Awards: Amanda Seales
Actress and activist, Amanda Seales used her outfits to showcase the talents of various black designers. She wore 13 stunning creations in total, with each one as gorgeous as the last. From a playful shift dress to a sassy latex number and a two-piece set inspired by an iconic Fresh Prince of Bel-Air character, Hilary Banks.

BAFTAs: Jodie Turner-Smith
Another bright beauty on the red carpet and one of our absolute favourites, British model and actress, Jody Turner-Smith was flawless in a bold yellow Gucci gown. The dress included black bow detail and shimmered with sequins to create a look that would undoubtedly be remembered for years to come.

MTV VMAs: Lady Gaga
While there may not have been a traditional red carpet at the MTV VMAs (thanks again COVID-19), celebs still pulled out all the stops. Lady Gaga was amongst the celebs who simply wouldn't bow down to mediocre style. "I was wearing face shields before it was a thing," Lady Gaga joked on Twitter. And what a statement she made as she set out to resemble the VMAs' Moon Person in her silver Area jacket, clear helmet, and black platform boots.

MTV European Music Awards: Winnie Harlow
Fun and bright, yet effortlessly chic, Winnie Harlow proved that glam has many faces. The catwalk queen strutted her candy-striped Moschino dress on the red carpet and dazzled with every step. Jewels from Gismondi 1754 perfectly complemented her look and reminded us that fun can also equal elegance.

SA Style Awards: Tansey Coetzee
Who knew denim could look so chic! Former Miss South Africa and model, Tansey Coetzee, stole the show at the SA Style Awards. Draped in a slinky blue and white dress, designed by luxury clothing brand Quiteria Atelier, this edgy ensemble was made to turn heads.

SA Style Awards: Claudia Henkel
Creations from SA’s sweetheart, Gert Johan Coetzee, are always a winner, and this dress was no exception. Claudia Henkel wowed from top to toe in this denim masterpiece, complete with a sassy side slit that caught everyone’s attention.
