TRENDY CURVY CELEBS TO INSPIRE YOUR NEXT OUTFIT

For years, we have accepted the standards of beauty that have been set by big fashion houses and what we’ve seen on the covers of magazines and fashion runaways. Being super skinny was the ultimate goal weight, and women with fuller figures have not been in the spotlight as much.

Times have changed for the better, and we are now very open about body positivity. We are encouraged to embrace our curves and celebrate all body types.

Curvy celebrities such as Lizzo have been an inspiration and have taught so many people to accept themselves and their natural beings. They have influenced so many other girls catapulting plus-size styling to a whole new level.

These eight celebrities have taken fashion up a notch and have proven that #CurveGirls can and should wear whatever they want and still rock the outfit.

NINA PARKER
She’s always on the pulse of everything fashion and trends. Nina Parker never misses a beat when it comes to delivering memorable looks worth copying. The E! News host has been vocal about her weight issues, and since she’s always around supermodels and Hollywood A-listers, body issues become quite evident. But she never lets that get in the way of loving herself and accepting her body. She knows very well how to execute a look from top to bottom that highlights all her curves and lands her on the best-dressed list.

PRECIOUS LEE
Supermodels are supposed to be super skinny, right? Well, Precious Lee is not what you would typically see on the fashion runways. Pushing boundaries and beauty standards that have been depicted on the catwalk for decades, Precious personifies beauty and elegance as she graces the catwalk in high-end designer couture while being snapped by famous photographers. Isn’t she lovely!

CELESTE NTULI
Comedy rock star Celeste Ntuli is one of Mzansi’s favourite female comedians and actresses. While Celeste is curvy, she still maintains a healthy diet and exercises regularly. She keeps it real on her social media and addresses ‘umkhaba’ struggles but always brings motivation and gives a positive outlook on beauty and body! Her signature line on her posts is: 'live, love, laugh, light', and the truth is that everyone should practise no matter their size.

ASHLEY GRAHAM
You could say she’s the trendsetter for curvy models. Ashley, now a new mom, has endured much of the harsh judgment from critics and designers, but she took all of that in her stride and persevered. She is the first plus-size model to be on the cover of the biggest swimsuit magazine Sports Illustrated! She continues to strut her stuff on the red carpet for designers such as Gucci at the 2019 Met Gala and Prada for Vogue UK magazine. She is a real example of how the physical should not limit you!

THICKLEEYONCE
Lesego Legobane, also known as Thickleeyonce, is a South African social media fashion and beauty influencer who has been in the spotlight and trending in SA and globally because of her fuller figure. Some have come at her for being so open and free with her body, but she stands firm about who she is and never compromises or conforms. She produces beautiful content on her Instagram page, showing off the most stylish outfits.

AMBER RILEY
Amber was on the cast of Glee from a very young age but often mocked by fans of the show for being overweight. She’s come a long way with loving and accepting herself and continues to land big roles in Hollywood. She’s very free with her sense of style and keeps it young and fresh!

DASCHA POLANCO
This Latin American actress came into the celeb scene in the series Orange is The New Black. At first glance, you wouldn’t say she’s plus size, but because of the prison outfit she wears on set, her body was talked about in Hollywood. Dascha has experienced the unfriendliness of showrooms and is sometimes snubbed by designers. She has not let that hinder her rise to stardom and struts the red carpet in the most well put together outfits to show off her beautiful figure.

ANELE MDODA
Anele Mdoda is quite vocal about many things and has received a few harsh jabs from social media and fellow celebrities. Anele is also a judge for Miss South Africa and has been unfairly mocked in the past because of her size. Well, Anele takes nothing lying down and has shut down haters that have tried to mess with her self-esteem. She wears what she wants and has some of the best dresses for casual wear and red carpet glam! She hosted the 2019 MNET Oscars Red Carpet in a beautiful sheer dress, proving that curve is sexy and elegant.
