THOUGHTFUL CRAFTS TO MAKE FOR MOTHER’S DAY

A mother is anyone who looks after, loves and cares for you. Show the mother in your life that she means the world to you with these crafty gift ideas.

1. HYACINTH FLOWER CARD
These flowers won’t wither after a few days, so Mom and Grandma can keep this beautiful Mother’s Day card as a keepsake for years to come.

You need:

• White paper
• Light blue paper
• Green paper
• Purple or pink paper
• Scissors
• Glue stick

How to do it:

1. Cut out the leaves and stem from the green paper. Cut out one big oval shape and eight strips from the purple or pink paper.
2. Fold your white paper in half.
3. Cut out a rectangle from the light blue paper, that’s a bit smaller than the folded paper, and glue it onto the front of the white paper.
4. Put some glue on one end of each flower petal strip, then bend the strip into a circle and press the other end onto the glue. Press tightly for a few seconds. Glue the flower stem and the pink or purple oval onto the blue paper on the front of the card.
5. Fold the leaves in half and glue one half to each side of the stem, Bend the other half down for a bit of texture.
6. Add a dot of glue to the bottom of each flower petal and glue them firmly onto the flower base.
7. Allow the glue to dry completely and then write a special message on the inside of the card. Give the card to Mom, Grandma or someone special in your life on Mother’s Day.

TOP TIP
If you have some glitter, make your petals extra special by dabbing them with glue then sprinkling glitter over them.

FINGERPRINT BUTTERFLY MUG
Mom will be reminded how much you love her every time she has a cup of tea or coffee.

You need:

• White mug
• Enamel acrylic paint or ceramic paint
• Small paintbrush
• Ceramic sealer (optional)

How to do it:

1. Dip your little finger in the paint, then press anywhere on the cup to get the butterfly body (or paint with a brush). Then clean your finger and dip it in the next colour, using it to design the butterfly wings.
2. Use a thin brush for the feelers.
3. If you want your mug to be dishwasher safe, seal your pictures with sealer.

PASTA NECKLACE
Use one of Mom’s necklaces as a guide for how long you cut your string – add a few centimetres to allow for tying a knot.

You need:

• Different shapes of pasta
• Red/pink craft paint or spray paint
• String

How to do it:

1. Choose your pasta and paint it red or pink. Let it dry completely.
2. Tie the pasta to the string any way you want, to create your own design (leave the ends of the necklace free, as Mom won’t want pasta in the hair at her neck).
3. Wrap the necklace in some tissue paper and give it to Mom.
