CELEB DADS WHO MAKE PARENTING LOOK EASY

Just like cool celeb moms, there are celeb dads who are just as awesome and love doting over their kids unashamedly.

Although most men are generally considered to take on more of a behind-the-scenes role when it comes to parenting, there are celeb dads who take on the ‘tata’ role wholeheartedly and become real superheroes for their kids. With busy schedules and sometimes long work hours, moms mostly take on the role of primary caretaker at home, and daddy’s role is not highlighted as much.

There are great dads out there, that give all sorts of support, acceptance, and love to their children. These celeb dads are crushing their fatherly duties, from changing diapers to handling temper tantrums to school runs, and even working together with their kids in movies.

We’ve selected a few A-lister dads that make fatherhood look easy and are giving their kids the best memories any child could have.

THAPELO MOKOENA
He’s been on our TV screens for years as a dashing heartbreaker and now action-man in the latest MNET series Tracker but Thapelo’s biggest role is that of daddy to his sons Lereko (5) and Lefika (2). There’s no day off for him. If he’s not on set, he’s with his wife and kids at home or visiting gogo.

During lockdown, Thapelo started a new family tradition where he and his boys spend a few minutes in the car bumping to loud music and just having fun. Thapelo sadly lost his dad in 2020 and for the funeral, he penned a beautiful tribute to him which he closed off by saying,

“We are only given one father in our lives. And ours has left his big mark on this earth, let’s continue in the spirit of BRA MIKE, let’s unleash our inner successes and continue building our own legacies.”

JUNIOR DE ROCKA
DJ Junior De Rocka is a good example of new-age fathers and being ‘girl dad’ goals. He always makes sure that he’s present at his daughter Sbahle's special days at school and has regular fun after-school moments with her – they have the cutest relationship. He showed real mature co-parenting moves when he sent his baby momma, Ntando Duma, flowers and gifts on Mother's Day to show appreciation and adoration for all she does for Sbahle. Junior and Sbahle are both on Instagram and are the perfect Daddy and daughter duo, sporting matching outfits and smiles.

WILL SMITH
Will Smith is definitely the ultimate – he’s fun, crazy, and such a quirky dad! He is always cracking jokes, playing pranks on his kids, and never misses an opportunity to embarrass them. He is a father to sons Trey, Jayden, and daughter Willow Smith. They often go on family vacations together and unusual adventures. Not only is Will Smith a great famous dad, but he’s been an amazing influence on his kids and has instilled the value of a strong work ethic, spiritual growth and has given them the space to be themselves no matter what the world may think.

Jayden starred alongside his father in the movie The Pursuit Of Happyness which is about a father’s love for his son and going above and beyond to provide and create happiness for them.

We cannot imagine Will Smith not being a dad because it’s become so much of who he is.

STEPHEN CURRY
NBA superstar Stephen Curry has the most adorable family with his wife Ayesha and two daughters Riley Ryan and baby boy Canon. Stephen takes his fatherly duties seriously and never misses a chance to smother them with love and attention. His Instagram page is filled with daddy moments on and off the basketball court. His girls follow him everywhere and sometimes steal the show at press conferences and work events. He too is very close to his dad and never forgets to celebrate Father’s Day with his dad Dell Curry who is a former basketballer.

CASSPER NYOVEST
Rapper and businessman Cassper Nyovest became a dad for the first time in September 2020. Cassper is known for his extravagant lifestyle of exotic cars, high-end jewellery, and designer labels, and sure enough, he has been spoiling his son Khotso with the best of the best designer prams, outfits, and baby goodies money can buy. But that’s not all being a father is about to him. He has embraced this new chapter in his life with lessons he has learned from his father and wants to teach his son good values and the love of God. His dad recently passed away and in a chat with Somizi from the TV show Dinner With Somizi he said,

“I'm so happy it's a boy. If I could do half of what my daddy did with me, then I'd be a great man. When I think about my relationship with my father, I would love to have that with my son.”

ICE CUBE
Although he has his famous mean scowl and resembles an ‘angry dad’, Cube’s way of parenting is firm but fair. He believes in giving and showing kids respect rather than being a dictator. He encourages open dialogue at home and acknowledges everyone's feelings. He has five kids with his wife Kimberley Woodruff and his eldest son O’Shea looks so much like his dad that he was cast to play him in the 2015 biopic Straight Outta Compton. Ice Cube’s kids, not surprisingly, listened to a lot of rap music growing up and two of them are now rappers in their own right.

“Be good to your kids because you’re going to be old one day and you’ll want them to be good to you. So keep that in mind” he told Time Magazine.
