5 WAYS TO STYLE FLARE PANTS

Flared denim jeans have made a comeback, and it looks as though they’re here to stay. Rock them like this!

This denim style creates one of the most flattering silhouettes as it is fitted around the hips and thighs, and flares below the knee. It accentuates your curves and adds length to your legs, no matter your body shape. Play with proportion and pair with an oversized top for a wild-child ’70s feel, or go for a more fitted style to show off your waist. Either way, you can create a look that’s nostalgic but trendy and can be worn with anything from sneakers to heels.

5 WAYS TO STYLE YOUR FLARES
Of all the different styles of jeans, flares are the most universally flattering. Choose them cleverly to suit your body shape, and they will create a stylish hourglass silhouette for any kind of figure. As a general rule, wider hips are better offset by wide flares (see our guide on which styles suit which body shapes on the right). These are a few ways to rock this season’s hot pick:

1. MAKE A STATEMENT
For a fashion flare, team your wide flares with a printed or bold top and cool platforms or boots.

2. KEEP IT CLASSIC
For a fresh and modern approach, opt for mini flares, paired with a white T-shirt and cropped denim jacket. Complete the look with a pair of trendy ankle boots or sneakers.

3. BALANCE THE BOLD
When choosing extra-wide flares, let them be the star of the show and pair with a basic tank or tee with simple gold accessories. Stylish flats or sneakers work best for footwear.

4. SMART AND CHIC
Flares, blazer and heels make for a versatile combo. Pair with a button-down shirt for the boardroom, or layer over a crop top for an after-hours do.

5. COSY AND COOL
One of the best tricks for the transitioning weather is to wear a cardigan with flared jeans. Coordinate with low-top sneakers for an easy weekend look or printed pumps for a chic street-style effect. If you are wearing a short cardigan, button it up and tuck it in. If choosing a long cardigan make sure it sits just below the hips and opt for jeans with not too much of a flare, to balance out the volume from the top.

WHICH FLARES SUIT WHICH BODY SHAPE?

Curvy or pear shape
For this shape, look for styles that fi t snugly around your hip and thigh area all the way down to the knees. Choose high-waisted styles with bigger flares at the bottom, to create an hourglass shape and elongate your legs.

Narrow hips or apple shape
Choose a smaller flare that will complement your hips. If you want a relaxed fi t, opt for a loose style that flares out just before the knee but does not kick out too much. For a tighter fit, choose a style that is snug all the way down to your calves and flares out slightly.

Column or straight up-and-down shape
Wide-leg flares work well with this shape as they balance and flatter your proportions.

Petite frame
A high-waisted cropped mini flare is a perfect fit for this frame. It elongates your legs and balances your dainty proportions. Pair with heels or wedges for added height.
