3 WAYS TO BELT A COAT AT THE BACK

’Tis the season to look effortlessly stylish in rich colours and layers of cosy fabrics. A winter must have, coats can be styled in different ways to help make your outfit stand out. One thing to consider is how to belt a coat at the back – especially on those slightly warmer days when you don’t need to tie it up in front.

Knot 1: The Knot
Just like wearing a tie for a formal look, this style will go well with a more corporate ensemble.

1. Cross the buckled end strap over the opposite tip.
2. Fold the buckled end strap underneath, then over (as if you’re tying a tie).
3. Fold the non-buckled strap end over.
4. Pull the strap through the back of the knot.
5. Pull to tighten.

Knot 2: The Side-tie
A more relaxed look, the side-tie works well for a more laid-back outfit. For example, when wearing your coat with a hoodie.

1. Fold the strap underneath.
2. Fold the strap over and through the loop.
3. Pull to tighten.
4. Repeat on the opposite side

Knot 3: The Bow
There’s nothing quite like a good ol’ bow to keep things timeless yet chic. This style will work well with dresses and skirts.

1. Cross the buckled end strap over the opposite tip.
2. Fold the buckled end strap underneath, then over (as if you’re tying a tie).
3. Fold the buckled end strap behind the other and pull horizontally.
4. Pull the buckled end strap through the front loop.
5. Pull to tighten.
