Ever felt like your schedule is getting out of hand? Eliminate these small, draining habits and replace them with ones that’ll save you time and energy.

1. Start your day without screens

Not all social media use is “doomscrolling”, so this isn’t a lecture about decreasing your screentime. The point is that your phone shouldn’t dictate how your day begins: when the first things you see as you open your eyes are three emails in need of responses and a cryptic message from your mom along the lines of “we need to talk” (which could just be about errands), it’s easy for panic to set in.

It can be tough not to grab your phone first thing but rather be intentional about how you set the tone for your day. Use an old-school alarm clock if you need to, and before you reach for your phone, take 25 minutes to set the pace and priorities for the day.

Try 15 minutes of breathwork exercises, meditation or prayer, followed by 10 minutes of listing and prioritising tasks. When you dive into that inbox, you’ll be calmer and aware that some tasks are not as important as your early-morning anxieties would suggest.

2. Break the multitasking cycle

There was a time when we were forced to take breaks. Now, email is on your phone, wi-fi is on your flight and work is in the queue at the bank, on holiday and while you walk your dog. Putting your phone on aeroplane mode is good, but what’s even better is planning intentional breaks that prioritise something enjoyable. Whether you’re working from home or the office, schedule time for deep work, then use your lunch break for – and this might sound groundbreaking – lunch. When the weather allows it, sit outside in the sun.

Do you feel productive when you're multitasking? 🤔 Research shows multitasking isn’t effective—what you're actually doing is task switching, and it's costing you big time: ❌ Takes up to 10 minutes to refocus ❌ Doubles the time to get things done ❌ Increases error rate by up to 50% Your brain isn't meant to juggle—it’s meant to focus. Instead of doing more, do one thing with full attention. That's how you train a Kwik Brain. ⚡️ 📌 Save this post as a reminder and share it with a multitasker.

Trying to remember everything

If you feel like you’ve got too much on your mind, you’re probably right. First, solve the little things: buy another charger if you’re always forgetting your charger. If you live in fear of lost keys, cut two spare sets: one lives in your wallet and another with a close friend. It can seem like a big expense but it’s less than an emergency call-out fees for a locksmith, and you’ll free up mental space for more important things.

Next, put it into words: no one will give you a prize for knowing by heart what needs to get done each day, so learn to make the most of a daily to-do list.

@letsliveandlearn I’ve tried making lists a million different ways over the years, but I’ll always come back to this version. Now with a few small changes to make it work even better in this season 👶🏻 #todolist #planwithme #bujo #journal #postpartum #adhdinwomen #adhdtips ♬ original sound - Shelley- Let’s Live and Learn
