The summer holiday is the perfect time to rest – and to tackle those tasks you don’t manage to get to (and avoid) during the year of course! Start your new year fresh by taking care of these cleaning projects this holiday.

1. Clear out old clothes and donate (or sell) them

Clearing out your wardrobe can be a monumental task, and it’s exactly why we all put it off for so long. All the more reason why a wardrobe overhaul should be first on your list. Not only will decluttering and organising make it easier to find your clothes every day, but you can also donate (or sell) clothes you forgot were at the back of your closet, or you won’t wear again. Once done, you can plan your outfits better and see what your wardrobe still needs from Jet womenswear to guarantee you look fabulous every day.

2. Houseplants

Just like the rest of your house, you should be cleaning your houseplants too. Your plants’ leaves are prone to collecting dust, and the layer of dust prohibits the plants from absorbing light effectively, stunting their growth. Use a feather duster to gently brush over the leaves or wipe them with a clean cloth and lukewarm water.

3. Cleaning kitchen cupboards

Our pantry and kitchen cupboards are often in disarray, especially when there are spice packets all over the place or various things just shuffled around. Clear out your kitchen cupboards, dust the shelves and clean off any stains before packing the contents back in an organised fashion. The final result will be a very satisfying sight.

4. Doorknobs and door frames

Doors, doorknobs and light switches are high-touch surfaces that are often forgotten when cleaning. And they’re so quick and easy to clean! Take a microfibre cloth, spray the surfaces with hand sanitiser and wipe. Start with the light switches and doorknobs, then wipe the door surfaces from top to bottom to get rid of all that grime. You can also replace the sanitiser with a bowl of lukewarm water with lemon. Just wet your cloth in it.

5. Clean your rugs

Rugs and carpets are prone to getting dirty, especially since people walk all over them. To give them a good cleaning, you need to vacuum them first (or sweep using a brush). Once all the sand and dust have been cleaned off, fill a bowl with hot water and dishwashing liquid. Take the lid of a pot and wrap a dishcloth around it. Dip it in the soap mixture and swipe your rug or carpet from side to side (scrubbing harder where there are tough stains). Summer is the perfect time to clean them, as they will dry faster.
