Kindness doesn’t have to take hours. From quick thank-you notes to donating clothes you no longer wear – small actions can make a big impact. Start today, feel good, and keep the kindness going.

Put it into words

Did someone go out of their way to help you with a tricky errand or customer service issue, online or in-person? Do you think your child’s teacher is doing a really fantastic job? Take the time to thank them, either then and there or with a kind note afterwards. Once you do this, it will be easier for you to turn it into a habit. You’ll send out those “thank you” notes – spreading your daily happiness. Even better? Let their boss know that they’ve got a star employee on their hands. If they’re self-employed, leave them a great Google review or comment on social media.

Sharing really is caring

You know that work you often think “someone should be doing” to help solve a societal problem? Chances are, someone already is – and they’d love your support. Whether it’s a community garden, homeless advocacy or an environmental clean-up initiative, the causes you care about can go even further with just a moment of your time. Simply sharing a post that calls for help can increase their reach.

Search online for organisations doing work that resonates with you and follow them consistently. Liking their posts helps, sharing them helps even more – and before long, you’ll likely see opportunities to get involved through donations, volunteering or attending events. Your small actions can spark big change.

Chuck items from your closet

If you haven’t recently – or ever – donated clothes from your closet, now’s the time. Take five minutes to identify three things you won’t wear again, pack them neatly and drop them off at your nearest charity shop next time you’re headed that way. This has three benefits: first, you can declutter your wardrobe. Second, someone benefits from the items you’ve donated. Third, you feel good about helping someone. It’s a win-win-win, and you’ll likely end up doing it again!
