MENstruation Foundation

An organisation that fights period poverty and gives women and girls dignity. 

Three in ten girls in South Africa miss one week of school each month because of menstruation. The steep price of pads and the silence around menstruation limits women’s participation in society, undermining their social status and self-esteem.  

The MENstruation Foundation empowers women by giving them access to much-needed sanitary products that are locally manufactured and compostable.

SOUTH AFRICAN EDUCATION PROJECT (SAEP)​

An initiative that provides holistic education to under-resourced children through academic tutoring, experiential learning, life skills, and psycho-social support. 

 SAEP’s work at pre-school, primary and high school is focused in Philippi, one of the largest and poorest townships in Cape Town. Their mission is to provide educational support to youth from under-resourced communities. Their 25 years of service is aimed at growing a generation of motivated South Africans.

U-TURN​

A non-profit that equips people and communities with life-changing skills to overcome homelessness.  

Over the last 25 years, U-turn has developed a four-phased skills development model where they meet homeless people at their point of need, and walk the journey out of homelessness with them.  

It starts with providing basic relief like food and clothing, continues to drug and alcohol rehabilitation, and closes with a work-based learnership that nurtures individual and vocational skills, as well as ensuring they do not relapse.
