Say ‘thanks mom’ with these thoughtful DIY gift ideas for Mother’s day

These easy-to-make gifts are the perfect way to let mom know how much you care.

Use recycled cans to make a beautiful planter for mom.

YOU NEED:
• Empty cans (make sure they
• have been washed and dried)
• Hammer
• Nail
• Paint
• Succulents or other small plants
• Soil
• Small rocks
• Heart stickers

HOW TO MAKE IT:
1. Remove labels on the can using warm water and dishwashing soap.
2. Use the hammer and nail to make a few drainage holes at the bottom of the can. Ask an adult to help.
3. You can now paint the inside and outside of the can.
4. Once the paint has dried, place small rocks at the bottom for drainage.
5. Fill the can with soil and then plant your succulents.
6. Now you’re ready to decorate the can with the heart stickers.

Tell mom how much she means to you with this card.

YOU NEED:
• Small pieces of green and yellow paper
• Pink A4 paper
• Seven cotton pads
• Stapler
• Scissors
• Pencil
• Glue

HOW TO MAKE IT:
1. Fold the A4 pink paper in half.
2. Draw three leaves (about 7cm) on the green paper and cut them out.
3. Draw a circle (about 2cm) on the yellow paper and cut it out.
4. Fold the left and right sides of a cotton pad towards the middle to create a cone and staple the bottom to keep the shape in place. Make seven.
5. Glue the cotton pads in the centre of the card to create a circle.
6. With your glue, stick three leaves between the cotton pads.
7. Stick the yellow circle on the middle of the flower.
8. Let it dry before writing a loving message for mom on the inside of the card.
