There are so many celebs using their platforms, voices and status for good. We are shining a spotlight on some local and international celebs paying it forward.
Celebrities are known for being in the spotlight, showing their talents and glamourous lives, but some shine even brighter for their incredible philanthropy. We take a closer look at how a few of our favourite celebrities, local and international, pay it forward by making a positive impact on the world.
SIYA KOLISI
Known for his impact on the on the rugby field as captain of the Springboks, Siya Kolisi also leads by example off the field. Through the Kolisi Foundation, he and his wife, Rachel Kolisi, strive to transform the lives of underprivileged South Africans. Their mission since 2020 has been to create safe spaces where people can unlock their potential through the transformative power of sport and education. They address gender-based violence, contribute to food security, and promote equality and well-being for all.
ZOZIBINI TUNZI
Zozibini Tunzi has recently launched her non-profit The Zozibini Tunzi Foundation. The former Miss Universe 2019 started her foundation with a mission is to strengthen communities and promote social justice that encourages gender equity, empowerment, and inclusivity. Zozibini aims to inspire the next generation to overcome challenges and break stereotypes.

Paris Hilton
Beyond her glamorous image, Paris Hilton has a big heart. She is a vocal advocate for the ‘Breaking Code Silence’ movement, raising awareness about the Troubled Teen Industry (TTI), wilderness therapy, and advocating for reform. She first spoke out about her personal connection with TTI in her YouTube Originals documentary ‘This Is Paris’. Paris is also an advocate for organisations like the Starlight Children’s Foundation which brings a little joy and laughter to the lives of hospitalised kids.
GARY PLAYER
Retired South African golf pro, Gary Player, is renowned for his dedication to give back to those less fortunate. Through the Gary and Vivienne Player Foundation, he and his wife focus on education for underprivileged children. His foundation has positively affected countless kids’ lives in both South Africa and the United States by providing education scholarships and healthcare services to those in need.
MICHAEL JORDAN
Being a household name when it comes to basketball, Michael Jordan shows he isn’t just a star athlete, but a giver too. The legend is known for his big contributions to charities, making a record-breaking donation to the Make-A-Wish foundation for $10 million earlier this year. It’s a well-known fact that Michael makes giving back his main priority, with his philanthropic donations far outweighing anything he’s spent on luxuries.
