The most unusual celebrity baby names

The best part of a celebrity baby announcement is waiting for the reveal of their, let’s call it, ‘unconventional’ baby name. From fruit to colours, here are some unusual names celebs have named their kids.
X Æ A-12 (X) AND EXA DARK SIDERÆL (Y)
Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, and the singer Grimes left the world puzzled when they welcomed a baby boy and named him X Æ A-12 in May 2020. But how do you even pronounce that name?
“First of all, my partner’s the one that mostly came up with the name,” the then 48-year-old said. “It’s just X, the letter X, and then the ‘Æ’ is pronounced ‘Ash,’ and then, ‘A-12’ is my contribution. ‘A-12’ is a nod to the Archangel 12, the precursor to the SR-71, the coolest plane ever,” he explained in an appearance on The Joe Rogan podcast.
But that’s not all, folks. Last year, little X’s sister was born and given the name Exa Dark Sideræl. And her nickname is ‘Y’. So the siblings are X and Y Musk. All we have to say is: ‘W-O-W.’

Actor Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin have two kids: a daughter named Apple and her younger brother, Moses. According to Gwyneth, the name Apple sounded sweet, wholesome and biblical. As for the name Moses? It was inspired not by the Bible, but by a Coldplay song Chris wrote for Gwyneth.
LYRA ANTARCTICA
With a popstar for a dad, no wonder this baby has a lyrical name. Singer Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry named their daughter Lyra Antarctica. The singer explained that they wanted something unique so that she will be the only one. Lyra means ‘lyre,’ the musical instrument, in Greek. And her second name was inspired by a trip Ed and Cherry took shortly before they found out they were expecting.

BLUE IVY, RUMI AND SIR
The global superstars Beyoncé and Jay-Z have three children – and their names are anything but ordinary. After their eldest daughter Blue Ivy’s birth, Queen Bey posted an excerpt from A Field Guide to Getting Lost by Rebecca Solnit, which explained the significance of the colour blue.
The couple also have twins named Rumi and Sir. Rumi’s name is inspired by the couple’s favourite poet, while Sir was named for the way he carried himself. “Sir was, like, a man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that. He just came out, like, Sir,” Jay-Z explained in an interview with Rap Radar. With parents like these, their kids do not need unique names to up their cool factor – it is in their DNA.
