4 hot make-up looks for the cold weather
1. Burgundy lip
Red lips are always trending – no matter the season. For winter, go a few shades deeper to a burgundy to get this sexy wine-hued pout. According to make–up artist Kelli Anne Sewell, a burgundy lip is the hottest accessory for winter. “It definitely comes from the fashion world,” she says.
2. Frosted eyes
Shimmer and shine are not only preserved for summertime. Make your eyes sparkle this chilly season with ‘frosty’-looking eye make–up. It’s the perfect underrated way to let your eyes make a statement. To get this look, first prime the eyelids with a product that has a tint to even out the colour. “By doing this, you’re also priming to extend the wear of the shadow – you can use a neutral to your skin tone’s creamy eyeshadow to achieve this,” explains make–up artist Carly Giglio.
3. Mocha mousse monochrome
Pantone’s colour of the year for 2025 is Mocha Mousse – and we’re seeing it everywhere. So, it comes as no surprise that it made the list for winter make–up looks. From eye shadows to lipsticks and especially bronzers, there’s no better time than now to go monochrome using various shades of brown. The trick to getting the balance just right: skip a dramatic lip if you want to focus on your eyeshadow, and vice versa if you want to draw attention to your pout. This versatile look works wonders – whether it’s for days in the office or dinner with the girls.

Expect eyeliners to be a major statement,” says celebrity make-up artist Jillian Dempsey. “The strength of this look comes from lining both the upper and lower eyelids, and creating a shape that works for your eyes.”
