Mistake #1: Filling brows with the wrong shade
Were you part of the over-tweezed, thin eyebrow era of the 2000s? You’re probably still trying to recover by filling your brows every day. It’s easy to overfill your brows, leaving them looking heavy and blocky – especially when you’re using a shade that is too dark. Opt for slightly lighter shades to look more natural. “If you have dark brown hair, choose a light or medium brown powder – I feel that brows should complement the face, not overpower your features,” says Giselle Soto of Giselle Soto Brows in Los Angeles.

Mistake #2: Choosing the wrong foundation texture
Making your skin look flawless when you apply your foundation is no easy feat. The coverage levels of your foundation may vary – from featherlight finishes to high-impact, full-face formulas. Did you apply full coverage in the heat of summer? Your base may melt away before you know it. “Choosing the right foundation texture is like dressing for the seasons,” explains make-up artist Hollie Burke. “In spring and summer, a lightweight foundation is ideal for your skin’s needs. For autumn and winter, a longer-wearing, medium to full coverage foundation helps cover redness and keeps skin looking even throughout those colder months.”
