Looking for a beauty range that truly delivers? Look no further than Colours LTD.

We spoke to the developers behind the Colours LTD range, Chane Cardoso, Sue-Ann van der Westhuizen and Deshi Moodley, to find out more about the inspiration that drives this local brand, how it was developed and why it’s already turning heads in every store.

What inspires the Colours LTD products?

When we’re choosing the formulations and ingredients for the palette of the product line-up, we look at ingredients that well-known brands use in their fragrances, skincare, colour cosmetics and bath and body ranges. We think about how we can use these ingredients for a Jet customer in a way that it doesn’t compromise on efficacy but is still at an accessible price point.

What are you most proud of about the range?

We are very proud to say that we are 100% vegan, which means that we don’t use animal-derived ingredients. We are cruelty-free, so the products are not tested on animals either. The products are also paraben-free.

Were there any cutting-edge ingredients or technologies that played a key role in this range?

We have skincare ranges that focus on brightening, and we know niacinamide paired with vitamin C and a good base formulation will give you glowing, hydrated skin. The hydrating ranges contain hyaluronic acid, but the hyaluronic acid we use is very different to other brands. We use what is called sodium hyaluronic, which is the best form of hyaluronic acid to use if you want it to absorb into your skin and see the full effects of hydration. It targets fine lines and wrinkles at a level that works, and we have the efficacy and clinical stage to support this.

How do you practice sustainability when producing the Colours LTD product ranges?

We’re proud that the vanilla we use in our products is sustainably sourced from Madagascar. This means that the suppliers of the raw material we work with put back money into the community. So, whenever they harvest vanilla, they ensure that the communities are educated and are well taken care of. Whatever these suppliers take out of the environment, they plant back. We use many other sustainably sourced ingredients vanilla is just one example of how we give back to the community through our formulations.

Tell us about the hero ranges.

Colours LTD is a one-stop shop for everything from skincare, bath and body care and fragrances to accessories, cosmetic brushes and colour cosmetics. The range also has amazing travel accessories and a haircare range, which was a struggle to create because the rest of the world does not understand the type 3 (curly) hair that we have in South Africa. So, we did a lot of internal panel testing on formulations and there was a lot of back and forth during this process. And then we came across a supplier in Italy who formulated the haircare range – it includes a clarifying shampoo, repair shampoo, moisture shampoo and a moisturising and softening shampoo, which is specifically formulated for type 4 (coily) hair.

What should readers look out for in the future?

We’re currently working on a Colours LTD men’s grooming range, which will include complementary grooming accessories. We also have a wellness range in the works expect varieties of powder-format wellness, such as collagen, radiance boosters, hydration boosters and a sleep elixir. These are powders that you can take throughout your day by mixing it into your water or other drinks.
