5 ways to style an oversized jersey

The weather is cooling down, so we’re packing away those lighter jackets and pulling out the oversized jerseys and cardigans. It can be quite difficult to style pieces that are built for comfort, but with these 5 tips, you can turn them from frumpy to fabulous!

THROW IT OVER THAT STATEMENT DRESS

You can still get a few more wears from those strappy maxi dresses this season. Simply put on the dress, then throw on a sports bra over it (yes, over it!) and layer your jersey on top. Then tuck your jersey into the base band of the sports bra and you get a chic tuck!

DRAPE IT OVER YOUR SHOULDERS

Why not switch out the poncho or scarf for your jumper gracefully draped over your shoulders? It’s a great way to make sure you’re covered for any unexpected weather changes, but also adds a chic touch to your outfit. Pin the sleeves to your top or collar to make sure it doesn’t slide off your shoulders.

WEAR IT AS A DRESS

Since oversized jerseys often reach below your hips, pair them with a pair of bike shorts or an asymmetric skirt underneath, and some knee-high boots. You’ll get that “I just threw this together” look while still looking stylish and put together.

WEAR BAGGY ON BAGGY

Matching an equally baggy jersey over a pair of baggy trousers or jeans can give you a comfy and laid-back look. Many would say that you must pair a baggy top with a fitted bottom to avoid looking scruffy, but you can add a pointed shoe or structured tote to bring some cohesion and you’re good!

This is no secret: a monochrome outfit always looks put together. Try matching your jersey to the rest of your outfit and you’re bound to have a winner! It’s great to play with textures and silhouettes, like wearing a structured metallic trouser with a ribbed cardigan in the same colourway.
