The Ultimate Dad Burger

Spend Father’s Day spoiling the main man with the ultimate dad burger
THE ULTIMATE DAD BURGER

Ingredients
Patty
-
Canola oil -
1 onion, chopped -
3 cloves garlic, chopped -
500g lean beef mince -
½ packet pork bangers, meat removed from casing -
2 Tbsp steak & chops spice -
2 tsp ground coriander -
1 tsp ground cumin -
2 Tbsp Dijon mustard -
1 egg, whisked -
¼ cup dry breadcrumbs -
½ cup grated cheddar cheese
Onion rings
-
1 cup flour -
1 tsp salt -
½ tsp garlic powder -
1 tsp dried herbs -
1/3 cup soda water -
2 onions, thickly sliced
Burgers
-
4 buns, halved and toasted -
Mayonnaise -
Handful lettuce, chopped -
2 tomatoes, sliced -
4 gherkins, sliced
Method
- Heat oil in a large pan and sauté onion and garlic. Allow to cool.
- Add the remaining patty ingredients, except the cheese, and shape into four large patties.
- Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan for deep-frying.
- Mix flour, seasoning, herbs and soda water to create a thick batter.
- Coat onions evenly and fry until crisp. Drain on paper towel.
- Fry patties on each side. When almost done, cover with a lid, top with cheese and steam until melted.
- Spread mayo on buns and top with lettuce, tomato, patties and gherkins. Close with a bun and top with onion rings.
