5 MINUTES WITH THANDO THABETHE

Thando Thabethe is an ambitious, beautiful and vibrant actress making waves in the entertainment industry.

She’s currently acting on the popular drama series The Housekeepers on Mzansi Magic while presenting her daily radio show on 5FM at the same time. She’s also taken on the fashion industry with women’s shapewear and a new swimwear range for Summer 18/19.

Thando has no plans to stop, she’s always on-the-go but has managed to give the Jet Club family five minutes and welcomes us into her world.

In a nutshell what kind of woman is Thando Thabethe?
Thando is a go-getter, who chases her dreams relentlessly, and also lives life to it’s fullest.

Your latest role in the series Housekeepers is quite different from your previous roles. What drew you to it?
As an actress I want to be able to play any role, I've never wanted to box myself in. It's like life, one needs to constantly explore different things, that's how we grow and that's how we make our lives a bit more interesting.

You’re an activist and big on women empowerment, what does it mean to you to make a difference in women’s lives?
It means that I'm a part of the project that is creating a better future for women, by changing the script of the patriarchal system we currently live in. It means making sure that every little girl sees that the future is that of an equal society where women's voices are taken seriously, and their potential is realised.

What is the objective of your line of lingerie and shapewear Thabooty?
The objective behind Thabooty is for women to have underwear that makes them look and feel sexy and comfortable at the same time. It's about encouraging women to know that they are beautiful in any shape or size.

You’ve very much into fashion, what is your personal style?
My style is quite simple and clean. I always try to make sure I look chic, whether I'm dressed down or glammed up for the red carpet. I'm not rigid, I love to try different things.

What has the negative feedback and backlash from social media taught you about yourself?
Well, having been in the industry for so many years, I've kind of grown a very thick skin. Criticism happens everywhere, and whether it's on social media, or coming from the people you work with, it's all about figuring out what's constructive and what's not. So I choose to learn from constructive criticism and become better because of it.

What is your motto in life and keeps you going daily?
“Live your best life!” It's about making sure that every second I have on this earth is used fully.

What is your ideal summer holiday?
Any place with a beach and beautiful sunsets.

Where and with whom will you be spending the holidays with?
I try to visit my mum on all the important dates during the festive season. However, I'll be spending most of the holidays on the road DJ-ing at different events.

It’s the end of the year, what are you most thankful for in 2018?
I'm most thankful for life and the people I have around me, my friends and family who continue to shower me with love. What more does one need?

What are you most looking forward to in the New Year 2019?
I'm looking forward to working even more and achieving more of my dreams. I'm also looking forward to releasing Love Lives Here, which will be my debut, playing the lead in a movie, so I'm really excited for everyone to see it when it's out in March 2019.

What are you hoping to get from Santa?
On my Christmas wishlist – is that everyone is filled with love and peace. A few pairs of shoes would also be great! Lol!

"Love yourself enough to know that you're enough and you can do anything you put your mind to. Be the best version of yourself always!"

Do you have a festive season message for the Jet Club family?
I wish you lots of love and peace of mind this festive season, as you reflect on the year that was, remember to count your blessings and appreciate that you got to live another year. Spend as much time with family, eat as much dessert as you can and remember that 2019 marks another chance to make your dreams come true. I wish you a happy holiday season and a fruitful 2019!
