Spring is around the corner, and there really is no better way to welcome the new season than with a scoop (or three) of yummy, butter ice cream. Creamy and indulgent, we show you how you can make your own flavour-filled ice cream topping in a few easy steps.

What you’ll need for your ice cream topping:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ⅔ cup panko/ breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Syrup

  1. Melt butter in a small pot over medium heat
  2. Add panko/ breadcrumbs and stir continuously (about 3 minutes), until the mix turns golden brown
  3. Remove from heat and transfer to a bowl
  4. Add sugar, salt and cinnamon. Stir until everything is evenly incorporated
  5. Allow to cool completely (about 20 minutes)
  6. Roll 1 scoop of ice cream at a time in the panko/ breadcrumbs mixture and then place it on a serving platter
  7. Dust your serving platter with icing sugar for added sweetness
  8. Drizzle syrup over your ice cream scoops. Serve immediately
  9. Add some fruit for extra flavour
  10. Serve chilled
