PLANT POWER
It can be tempting to buy every plant in the store on your first trip, but the key is to start small. Buy a few easy-to-grow plants and take your time learning how to care for them. Getting too many plants without doing your research can lead to a houseful of dead plants later on. Try hassle-free plants like succulents & cacti, pothos and spider plants.

There’s nothing wrong with buying plants simply because you like them. But, if you’re interested in interior decorating with plants, select plants that fit the look of your home. If you love mid-century and modern, consider oversized plants like a fiddle leaf fig or rubber tree. Pair them with tall-legged planters to complete the look. For low-maintenance décor, artificial plants will do the trick too.

LIGHT MY FIRE
Candles have made a huge comeback (thanks Eskom), but not only do they keep your space illuminated, they also enhance its overall design of a space. Get a few pillar candles and use an old mirror as a tray to bounce the candle’s light around the room. Play around with candles in various sizes and geometric designs for a modern look.



A VASED APPROACH
Decorating with vases is a beautiful way to style your home. Whether filled with fresh flowers or displayed as decorative objects, vases make a lovely finishing touch for any room.

For something unique, arrange a series of vases in different shapes and heights, along mantel, sideboard or entry way. While they will look beautiful as a permanent display, filling them with a few single stems of seasonal blooms will help keep your space pretty and fresh throughout the year.
