Summer is on our doorstep! We’re all looking forward to beach days and sunny brunch dates, but we could do without the melting foundation, sticky lipstick and runny mascara. Let your face beat the heat with these easy make-up tips.

1. USE AN OIL-FREE MOISTURISER
Skincare first, make-up second! Hydrating your skin is crucial in creating a flawless make-up look. Celebrity make-up artist Fiona Stiles suggests that you use an oil-free moisturiser in the morning and opt for an oil-free foundation formula to match. The oil-free products will leave your face less greasy in the sweltering heat.

2. REPLACE YOUR FOUNDATION WITH TINTED MOISTURISER
Ditch a thick foundation and replace it with tinted moisturiser for a more natural, fresh-faced look on those hot days. Not only will tinted moisturiser give you that sheer glow, but it’s also perfect for summer when a thick base may feel too heavy. But what if you want a bit more coverage? "Mix an oil-free moisturiser with [your favourite] foundation for a softer, sheerer appearance,” says makeup artist Robert Sesnek.

3. BLOT YOUR COLOURFUL LIPS
Rock your colourful pout with confidence when you use blotting paper after applying your lipstick. "Unlike a tissue, it's designed to absorb oil, leaving behind only a stain of pigment," says make-up artist Kate Lee. Blotting your lips will help prevent the colour of your lipstick from fading or bleeding beyond the creases.

4. DON’T FORGET YOUR SETTING SPRAY
The final step in your make-up routine is spritzing setting spray to seal in your look. "Setting sprays absolutely makes a difference in the wear of your makeup," says make-up artist Gloria Elias-Foeillet. "They prolong the life of your makeup application," she adds.
