5 TOP MAKEUP TIPS WHEN WEARING GLASSES

Try these five top tips to enhance your look while keeping those frames in the spotlight. Do all your amazing makeup looks with the Colours range, available at Jet stores and online at Bash.com.

1. CURL YOUR EYELASHES
When it comes to your lashes, focus on curling, and not getting them longer. “Curl your top eyelashes. This will prevent them from touching the lenses of your glasses. Clamp at the base of the lashes, then hold the curler for five to ten seconds as you lift. Alternatively, for a quick pick-me-up, carefully hold the lashes in a curl with your fingertips for a few seconds. Also, switch to a long-wearing mascara formulas that won't smudge on your lenses,” explains makeup guru Bobbi Brown.

2. KEEP YOUR EYEBROWS NEAT
For glasses wearers, the attention will always be on your eye area, so spend a little extra time on your eyebrows. “Eyeglass frames draw attention to the brows, so be sure to keep your arches well groomed. Pluck or trim any scraggly hairs, and fill in holes or sparse spots with a brow pencil or powder shadow,” says Bobbi Brown.

3. CHOOSE EYESHADOW THAT COMPLEMENTS YOUR EYES
When it comes to eyeshadow, first ask yourself: Are you near- or far-sighted? For the far-sighted folks, you may want to minimise the magnifying effect by using darker shades – think a smokey eye with a dark eyeliner. If you are near-sighted, your eyes may appear small, so opt for lighter shades and use a nude eyeliner along the waterline. Shimmery shades, champagnes and pale browns will open your eyes up more.

4. DON’T PACK ON THE FOUNDATION
When removing your glasses, you’ll likely notice the dents or red marks on your face (the bridge of your nose and cheeks) from where it rested on your face. The more foundation you wear, the more noticeable these dents will be. When applying your base, do your nose last and only use the product remaining on your brush to keep the coverage light. Rather use a small amount of concealer and pinpoint it to those areas if you need slightly more coverage.

5. GO FOR A BOLD LIP
If you wear glass, doing your eye make-up can be a daunting task. When you feel like this, keep your eye makeup simple and divert the attention to your lips. Opt for a bold, matte lipstick to draw the focus to your pout.
