HOW TO MAKE POTATO STAMPS

Did you know you can use potatoes to make cool stamps? Here’s how to make them – ask an adult to help you with cutting the potatoes and have fun!

YOU WILL NEED
· Potatoes
· Cookie cutters or a knife or other sharp tool
· Water-based paints or fabric paints in different colours
· A paintbrush or shallow containers like jar lids
· Paper or fabric
· A cup or dish of clean water

STEP 1
Cut a potato in half. Use a cookie cutter or knife to create the shape of your stamp on one cut surface. If you like, add patterns or grooves.

STEP 2
Now, either use a paintbrush to paint the shape of the stamp, or carefully dip the cut side of the potato into the paint.

STEP 3
Press down firmly on your paper and there you have it! You can make pretty patterns on paper, card or even fabric if you use fabric paint.

You can re-use your potato stamp over and over. Just wipe off the excess paint between colours. You can even store them wrapped up in the fridge for a few days.

It’s that easy, Jet Club Family! Do share a photo on our Facebook page if you try this at home, we’d love to see your potato stamp art!
