THE 10 BIGGEST CELEBRITY WEDDINGS OF 2019

This year had no shortage of beautiful celebrity weddings. Today we take a look at who tied the knot in style in 2019.

1. SOMIZI AND MOHALE
Somizi Mhlongo and Mohale Motaung had a lavish wedding Kibler Park in September 2019. (What else did you expect from such a fab couple?) Guests included Bonang Matheba, Cassper Nyovest, Khanyi Mbau and Pearl Thusi.

Why would you only have one wedding outfit when you could have 7? That’s what Somizi and Mohale did for their big day – they changed 7 times throughout the day, ending with gorgeous Gert-Johan Coetzee ensembles. They are apparently having an even bigger bash for their white wedding in January 2020. We can’t wait to see what they’ve got planned!

2. IDRIS ELBA AND SABRINA DHOWRE
Remember when Idris Elba proposed to his girlfriend, Sabrina Dhowre, at the screening of Yardie? Here’s a refresher for you. (Prepare to swoon!)

A year later, Idris and Sabrina had a three-day wedding at the Ksar Char Bagh Hotel in Marrakesh, Morocco. Sabrina told Vogue, “My family is from east Africa and Idris’s is from west Africa, so we thought it would be fun to meet somewhere in between.” Idris looked sharp in an Ozwald Boateng suit, while Sabrina wore a custom-made Vera Wang gown.

3. BONTLE AND PRIDDY UGLY
Love was definitely in the air in September, as Bontle and Priddy Ugly got hitched the same weekend as Somizi and Mohale.

The couple had a traditional wedding and looked beautiful in their Antherline Couture attire.

4. ZOË KRAVITZ AND KARL GLUSMAN
Zoë Kravitz and Karl Glusman prefer to keep their relationship out of the limelight. Zoë never formally announced their engagement and it only became public news when she casually mentioned it in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine in 2018. They had a secret wedding ceremony which unsurprisingly, there isn’t much info about. In June 2019 they had a reception at Lenny Kravitz’s 18th-century Parisian mansion, which was attended by celebs like Reese Witherspoon, Denzel Washington and her mother, Lisa Bonet. Zoë, opted for a hand-crocheted pearl cocktail dress by Danielle Frankel for her rehearsal dinner, which she paired with bike shorts. (She really is the queen of cool!)

5. SENZO ‘KWESTA’ VILAKAZI AND YOLANDA MVELASE
In March 2019 rapper Kwesta and Yolanda Mvelase held an intimate wedding reception at Thaba Eco Hotel in Johannesburg. Said Kwesta on Instagram, “What a song you are. I may never be worthy to dance to it but I'll burst my eardrums trying to listen right and break my legs learning the moves. I love you @yonessavv. Let's make music forever.”

Do you have some tissues handy? Then you’re ready to see their first dance! How sweet?

6. JOE JONAS AND SOPHIE TURNER
The couple said “I do” twice in one year. The first time was after the Billboard Music Awards, when they tied the knot at The Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas.

The second time was a more formal affair in the south of France on June 29. Sophie’s dreamy gown was created by Louis Vuitton designer, Nicolas Ghesquière. The gorgeous wedding was attended by celebrity friends like Ashley Graham, Diplo and Sophie’s Game of Thrones bestie, Maisie Williams.

7. DINEO MOEKETSI AND SOLO
Mzansi’s sweethearts, Dineo and Zothile ‘Solo’ Langa, had their traditional wedding at The Forum White Light in September. They had a star-studded guest list which included Thando Thabethe, Rami Chuene and Kwesta.

Four months later, the couple held their white wedding at The Forum Embassy Hill in Constantia, Cape Town.

Dineo looked breathtaking in an off-the-shoulder wedding gown with a dramatic train, while hubby Solo looked stylish in a dapper black and white suit.

Their guests certainly didn’t look too bad either!

8. CHANCE THE RAPPER AND KIRSTEN CORLEY
Childhood sweethearts, Chance the Rapper (Chancellor Johnathan Bennett) and Kirsten Corley, said “I do” at the Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach in March. Chance said he fell in love with Kirsten at the age of 9 when he saw her perform a Destiny’s Child song. "I knew I was gonna marry that girl," he wrote on Instagram. "Sixteen years later it's happening. This [weekend] is the time, and the place is my wedding. I'm gonna dance with my wife because this is my destiny." So sweet!

9. MMATEMA MOREMI AND TSHEPO GAVU
Idols singer, Mmatema Moremi walked down the aisle in a gorgeous red wedding gown in February 2019. The wedding was held in her home village, Moletlane, and guests included EFF leader Julius Malema and Mbuyiseni Ndlozi.

10. HAILEY AND JUSTIN BIEBER
After saying “yes” in New York courthouse in 2018, the couple decided to have a lavish wedding in Montage Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, South Carolina. Hailey wore four dresses for the celebrations, starting with a Vivienne Westwood minidress for the rehearsal dinner. She chose a custom off-white gown with “till death do us part” on the veil for the ceremony, a Ralph & Russo halterneck for the photobooth shots and a custom Vera Wang slip dress for the reception.
