VALENTINE’S AT HOME: 8 ROMANTIC IDEAS!

Ah, it’s the month of love! Pops of red are lining the shops with hearts galore at every turn as we fast approach Valentine’s Day. But how do you keep the romance alive when your best (and safest) option is to stay indoors?

This Valentine’s Day may be a little different than previous years (thanks again Covid!), but that doesn’t mean you have to make it any less romantic. Here are a few ideas to help you keep the flame alive.

1. AN INDOOR LIGHT-UP-THEIR-EYES PICNIC
Picture this: your Valentine walks in and sees a tablecloth or blanket filled with treats, snacks, and their favourite food. There are candles around the room to give it the perfect ambiance. Their smile is the biggest you’ve seen and their eyes are filled with excitement. That’s the sort of reaction you’ll get to this thoughtful Valentine’s idea.

2. RECREATE YOUR FAVOURITE DATE
Were you two at a romantic restaurant? Did you go to the movies? Were you cooking together? Maybe you went to a concert? Take a moment to think about that one date both of you will never forget and try to recreate that day or night at home. Thoughtful, yes! Romantic, of course! A Valentine’s Day winner, believe it!

3. AT-HOME SPA? YES, PLEASE!
Who doesn’t love a good pamper? And if it’s affordable, all the more reason to enjoy it. Get a few candles, a couple of face masks, DIY or store-bought, gather a few massage oils and this could be a surprise your honey will never forget. If you both love a good foot scrub, get a small bucket big enough for your feet and enjoy a good soak. After a rough 2020, a pamper party for two might be just what the love doctors ordered.

4. HAVE A DANCE PARTY
When was the last time you and your partner danced the night away? If ‘I can’t remember’ is your answer, this is the one for you! Find a dance that you’ve both wanted to try or draw one from a hat, then look it up and spend the night having fun. Get music to match, a few drinks, and snacks to keep energy levels high and you’ll be giggling the night away.

5. VALENTINE’S DAY LOVE HUNT
Send your love on a hunt around your home that will leave their heart racing. Pick five clues that send them to different places. The last clue should lead them to a final destination (wink, wink) where you’d like to end the night. Need ideas for the love hunt? Why not create a riddle that leads them to the oven, where you’ve made their favourite dish? Next, lead them to the bathroom to find a bottle of massage oils for a back rub. Get the idea?

6. BREAKFAST IN BED
Waking up to your favourite meal in bed? Yes, yes, and yes again! Give your sweetheart the best start to their day by making their favourite meal, but don’t forget to add a little something extra to sweeten the deal. Think heart-shaped waffles, chocolate pancakes, French toast, or decadent brownies.

7. PLAY BOARD GAMES, BUT WITH A TWIST
Pick your favourite board games, get some snacks, and get started! But make a few new rules. For example, if you love Monopoly, turn it into Loveopoly. Every time you pass go, you get a kiss. When you land up in jail, you have to remove an item of clothing. The more creative you get, the better your night will be.

8. GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER ON A DEEPER LEVEL
Starting today, ask your Valentine to write down 25 questions they would like to ask you but just never had the chance to. You do the same. After dinner, set the mood and take turns asking each of the questions you’ve written down. You might be surprised how much of your partner you still haven’t uncovered.

Whatever you choose to do this Valentine’s Day, remember to stay safe and have fun with your loved one. There’s a lot to be grateful for, including the love of your sweetheart.
