4 PERFECT PART-TIME JOBS FOR MOMS

They say a mother’s work is never done, but when you have to maintain a 9–5 job too, that’s when the juggling gets hard to manage. Don’t panic moms, we share part-time job options to consider if returning to your full-time gig is not an option.

1. ONLINE TEACHING
Those who can’t do, teach. Right? Wrong! If you are an educator or have a specialised skill, you will always be in demand and could teach an online course. There’s a wide variety of local and online international platforms to connect students with teachers. Do some research about the requirements you would need to meet and the application process. Plan your time around your kids’ schedule to see which times work for you – that way, you would know which time zones you could teach in. Wouldn't it be a bonus to synchronise your classes with your child's nap time? We certainly think so.

2. MANAGE SOCIAL MEDIA
If you scroll Instagram every five minutes, and your feed is perfectly curated with #hasthags to suit – turn your hobby into a career!

Many small businesses and restaurants need an online presence. Identify and approach businesses in your community that could use your social media skills. Present them with a strategy to show why you would be a great asset to their company. Work from the comfort of your home; all you need is your phone. You might just be what they need to boost their business!

3. BECOME A CONSULTANT
Chances are that before you took the role of motherhood, you were experienced in your field. It’s not necessary to step out of your current field and change career paths completely, lend your expertise to your previous employers as a consultant. By doing this, you can still work around your schedule. Work from home or on a per-project basis. By becoming a consultant, you can modify your current occupation to make it as flexible as you would like it to be. It’s the best of both worlds!

4. FREELANCE PROOFREADER
Instead of only editing your kids’ homework, why not do it as a profession? Both publishing houses and independent writers are always looking for someone to spot mistakes and perfect their brand’s voice in their articles, journals and books. Companies often hire freelancers, which makes it the perfect opportunity to accept and decline upon your availability. There are plenty of online proofreading courses that will only take a couple of months to complete – the perfect skill to learn.
