5 TIKTOK FASHION HACKS TRIED, TESTED AND LOVED

It's amazing the number of different ways you can style an item, and many fashion hacks have gone viral thanks to platforms like TikTok.

Gen Z users (especially) are continuously coming up with new ways of reinventing basic clothing items. So, if you have tops, bottoms or accessories gathering dust in your closet, give them a new lease on life with just a few small tweaks.

However, not all hacks are created equal. Some seem great at first glance but end up being impractical and awkward when you attempt them. We've sifted through thousands of viral fashion hacks to bring you five that will stand the test of time.

Create a backless top using a cami and a shoelace
This fashion hack might look like a recipe for disaster but there's a reason it went viral. TikTok users immediately jumped on the trend and proved that you can create a whole new look from a simple strappy cami and a shoelace. Talk about being fashionable on a shoestring (literally)!

The key to this hack is to loop the shoestring through the armhole of the cami, then hang the cami around your neck using the newly made neck hole. From there, the shoelace can be woven down the sides of the top and looped around your sides to create a snug-fitted open-back top. Glam it up with a gold chain instead of a shoelace.

Transform a simple scarf into a figure-hugging wrap top
As we head into the colder months, chunky scarves take centre stage in our wardrobes. But scarves don't just have to be wrapped around your neck or draped over your shoulders. With just a few adjustments, you can create a beautiful wrap top.

Knot your button-up shirt the right way
A button-up shirt is a closet staple and can be worn in a number of ways. Buttoned up and tucked in for a formal look, worn open as an overshirt for trans-seasonal layering or knotted for an off-duty, relaxed vibe.

If you're a fan of the latter, you're probably used to making a simple shoelace tie to knot the ends together. This is great but can make the shirt look bulky. Create a beautiful, ruched silhouette by looping each end of your shirt through the gap between the buttons at the bottom to create an effortless tie.

Keep sandal straps in place
Do you love the strappy sandal look but find that your laces have slid down after an hour, completely ruining the whole strappy effect? Never fear – this user shows you how to keep your laces in place so you can still rock the look.

She shows us that the key to getting the lacing right is to criss-cross the laces each time you wrap them around your ankle and to loop them under your foot before tying them in place.

Get more support from your strapless bra
Finding the right strapless bra can be a struggle and any of us have to ditch a strapless outfit in favour of something that covers our straps. So, how do you support your bust while still pulling off a sexy look?

This TikTok user shows us how to achieve a strapless look for an open-back outfit: unclip your bra straps from your bra, wrap them around the front of your bust and clip them together again. Voila!
