Get ready to feast your eyes on the crème de la crème of South Africa's fashion scene – read on for our style notes of 10 local trendsetters serving up sartorial perfection with every strut.

Rich Mnisi
Known for designing pieces that feature playful patterns, bold colours and streamlined silhouettes, the Forbes “30 under 30” fashion designer is just as daring and rebellious when it comes to his personal style. He's often seen sporting androgynous looks and enjoys pushing the envelope when it comes to men's fashion.

Seth Shezi
Strategist and host of popular podcast Breaking Eggs, Seth Shezi is undoubtedly a major fan of the classic suited look (tailored blazers in particular) but he also knows how to dial it back a notch by sporting loosely fitting shirts in natural fabrics, showcasing his effortlessly laid-back style.

Sergio Ines
A self-confessed dandy, Sergio's trademark style is his impeccably tailored suits – from his tie and pocket square right down to his playful socks, the man ensures every inch of him is perfectly dressed. His blog, What My Boyfriend Wore, is a fashion bible and on his Instagram page he covers men's fashion etiquette and advice, from what to wear on a Valentine's Day date to wardrobe essentials every guy should have.

Trevor Stuurman
Trevor made a name for himself as a street-style photographer capturing South Africa's cool kids, but has since gone on to become a front-row reporter for international fashion weeks. Through his collaborations with global brands such as Gucci, the award-winning visual artist delivers unique looks that marry vintage flair and edgy, contemporary elements.

Maps Maponyane
The stylish TV presenter attributes his suave fashion sense to his grandfather, who was somewhat of a style icon in his day and influenced Maps' own personal style growing up. Maps has a penchant for neutral tones and is hardly ever seen without his trademark specs or sunglasses, and a hat – whether it's a fisherman beanie, fez, spoti or poorboy cap, he knows how to top off a look.

Sho Madjozi
30-year-old 'John Cena' singer Sho Madjozi is in a league of her own when it comes to fashion. Her iconic colourful box braid hairstyle alone went viral in 2019, causing her young female fanbase to go to great lengths to emulate her look. Sho's bold outfits are inspired by traditional dress, of which a tingvulu (xibelani), a distinctive threaded skirt, is a core feature in Tsonga culture.

Nomuzi Mabena
Aka Moozli, rapper Nomuzi Mabena is always pulling out all the stops with her outfits. From spacey Y2K-inspired looks to figure-hugging jumpsuits and tomboy-chic T-shirts and sweats (never without with her signature hooped earrings), she makes it clear she can rock any style. The epitome of a girl who can do it all!

Nabilah Kariem
Considered by some as the pioneer of the local modest-fashion movement we've seen in recent years, Nabilah has humble beginnings as an Instagram influencer. Today, 'influencer' doesn't seem to do her justice as she has created an entire brand around her aesthetic. Focusing on minimalist – but never boring – looks, Nabilah enjoys finding new ways to style loose-fitting items, reminiscent of futuristic Japanese fashion.

Sarah Langa
There are some people who stick to what they know suits them best, and media personality Sarah Langa exemplifies this notion. Favouring mostly monochromatic colour palettes and sleek, minimalist silhouettes over fleeting fashion trends, Sarah oozes sophistication and luxury. It's giving quiet confidence – and we're here for it.

Kefilwe Mabote
Knowing how to dress for your body type is a great skill, and luxury digital strategist Kefilwe Mabote is right on the money. Kefilwe favours structured pieces that highlight her classic hourglass shape, but she manages to look perfectly snatched even when wearing baggy jeans. When not sporting red-carpet-worthy ballgowns, she showcases her affinity for edgy clothing, inspiring and pushing the boundaries of fashion with her unique style.
